PaddyWax
Fresh out of college and contemplating a career path, Gretchen Hollingsworth and several girl friends started a group that each week would complete a chosen creative project. What started as a ‘knickknack, paddywhack' inspiration became Paddywax. The hobby-turned career took off for Gretchen after meeting David Duncan, an Atlanta native, with a similar enthusiasm for her concept. The two later married and became joint partners of PaddyWax, a family run company under the name of Beauty Connection which has been established since 1998. The Paddywax Eco Range features hand poured candles from Atlanta, made from a renewable and sustainable material. The vegetable wax that comes from the oil of soybeans is blended withnaturally inspired fragrances to produce a beautiful, completely natural candle. The US grows the vast majority of soy beans primarily in Iowa & Indiana. PaddyWax have a very small factory in Atlanta where the candle production takes place. This Eco range is about being firmly committed to conserving the earth's resources and features a chlorine free paper pulp box that can be reused as a plant pot, which is also biodegradable in 3-6 months. The paper labeling on these candles are made from post industrial recycled paper with FSC certification. And the wicks in these candles are made from cotton to prevent thick black soot emitting when burning. The burn times for these candles are up to 45 hours.
