Maya Organic

Leela is the UK based distributor for Maya Organic, an umbrella organisation for a number of artisans who have formed their own co-operatives. Maya Organic is based in Bangalore and their skilled artisans are located in and around Bangalore and Channapatna in Karnataka, southern India. Ann, who fronts the company Leela Toys, became inspired to work with Maya Organic after she had worked over in Bangalore and
saw the brilliant lac-ware gifts in their shops. Once Ann had left the corporate life of Bangalore, she realized that she could never leave behind the spirit of Bangalore and the talents of the local artisans; which lead to the distribution of theses stunning hand crafted toys over here in the UK.

These fantastic toys are made from sustainably sourced halewood and rubberwood, then coloured with natural vegetable dyes before being lac finished. Lac is an organic resin that is scaped off trees which gives these toys their great porcelain like finish. This product range does not contain any paints or harmful chemicals.

These wonderful wooden toys are brilliant for improving childrens hand eye coordination, along with colour recognition. Also some of the toys aim to improve children's basic counting and number skills.
