Zaida
Zaida are a company who work with the craftmen of Kashmir, the North-western most state of India. Kashmir's many crafts reflect the region's history, landscape and traditional way of life. Zaida respects these traditional values and the skills of the craftsmen; and aim to use these skills to produce modern and abstract designs.
Zaida cushion covers and rugs will last for a very long time. They are constantly developing new designs that reflect growing trends and preferences towards home accessories.
These contemporary and abstract interior products show that Eastern tradition methods can meet Western contemporary designs. Each rug and cushion is individually produced in Kashmir, India and designed to last a long time. The design is imprinted onto the fabric using a traditional method. High quality woollen threads are naturally dyed where possible and then stitched by hand onto the cotton fabric using the chainstitch method.
The adults working in Kashmir are cooperatives who set their own rates of pay for the work that they do. During the production process, there is no child involvement. Zaida have not set up a factory working environment over in Kashmir; as the cooperatives work from within the comfort of their own homes.
