SJS Furniture
SJS Furniture is a family business run by brother and sister partnership, Howard and Caroline Webb. Howard is based in Beeston, Norfolk, and runs sales and distribution, while Caroline has settled permanently in Java where she runs the SJS Factory and heads up the design team.
All wood used in their furniture collections is from non-endangered sources and has been used for generations in the manufacture of furniture. When a tree has come to the end of its productive fruiting life it is felled and a sapling is replanted in its place. The Mango wood used is not subject to certification, is indigenous to Java, free growing and never taken from the endangered rain forest.
All SJS Funiture's staff in Java are paid higher than minimum wages set by the local government, with regular salary reviews and increases awarded on a performance basis, and a yearly bonus payment and holiday. SJS provide a medical/health and pension insurance scheme that covers both them and their family and they employ no-one under the age of 18. There is also a fully subsidized canteen provided on-site for all employees.
