Fabric Of The Universe

Fabric of the Universe was founded in 2008 by Sophie Ferguson. After 10 years of being a mum and as her children become more independent, Sophie decided to join a screen printing evening class at Edinburgh College of Arts. This is what set in motion the inspiration for Fabric of the Universe. Her passion for designing prints and decorating everyday textile items is what lead to Fabric of the Universe baby clothing. The clothing ranges are currently made in the UK, with the prints being applied by the only organic textile printers in the UK. Future plans for the company involve expanding to a producer over in Turkey. Turkey is one of the world's largest organic cotton producers.

Fabric of the Universe baby clothing is produced without the use of harmful chemicals such as pesticides and toxins. This is not only better for the environment, but safer for the cotton producers and healthier for your baby as well.

Conventional cotton farming is one of agriculture's most environmentally destructive activities. It takes an enormous toll on the earth's air, water, and soil, and significantly affects the health of people living in cotton growing areas. Organic cotton, however, is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility whilst reducing the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and building biologically diverse agriculture. The benefits of organic cotton farming is that it prevents and reduces farmer debt as well as preventing potential fatal poisoning of farmers and their families.
