Vietnamese fine arts and handicrafts have a long-standing tradition. The tradition is closely attached to names of craft villages, craft streets and is expressed by the traditional handicraft products with unique, sophisticated and perfect features. Vietnamese fine arts and handicrafts have such distinct and original features that names of the products are always attached to the villages from which they are made; the famous handicrafts also bring fame to the villages producing such products.
Many crafts as well as craft villages have emerged in the history of Vietnamese culture and civilization. These villages are not only the places of one or some crafts making up a great centre of handicraft production, but also the place of skilful workers and craftsmen who can make the distinct products, which can hardly be copied by other regions.
